How to Love

A girl on the verge of her adolescence who follows her beautiful friends' summer's adventure on the Tel Aviv beach ; an old Baron who tells his mistress his tales of the revelation of the most powerful love potion of all ; a girl who crosses the Jordanian border and brings a pen to a treacherous beloved; a failing Israeli singer who finds the opportunity of his lifetime thanks to his loyal fan from Sheffield, England ; a painful and grotesque love story similar to fragmentations of consciousness, and one moment of happiness and true intimacy in an almost dull morning – all of those interweave together an irregular collection of graphic fiction by the Actus comic artists.
The Actus group contains five well known and celebrated illustrators: Batia Kolton, Mira Friedman, Itzik Renert, Rutu Modan and Yirmi Pinkus. Since its establishment in 1996, the group published dozens of graphic novels and comic books and launched both an artistic and literary revolution in Israeli comics. The exhibition was held upon the publication of their graphic novel, "How to Love".
In the year 2006 Actus was chosen by the American Magazine ID as one of the most outstanding contemporary artistic groups. The book "How to Love" contains a guest appearance by animator and illustrator David Polonsky.
"The beautiful illustrations and plot lines both create the disturbing mixture of loneliness and humor which Actus are known for” - Publisher's Weekly.
The exhibition "How to Love" portrayed various aspects of love and explored its less trivial characteristics. The exhibition was divided into six themes, all dominant elements of the artists' works: kiss-touch, hatred, jealousy, courting, disappointment and environment.

The museum also held a Gallery Discussion with the Actus members on 17.10.09.
